Gawker reports a very interesting news item about our beloved Ben Silverman regarding his relationship with Professor Presti's former neighbor, Ricky Van Veen, at IAC's College Humor.
Silverman's newest venture, Electus, has attracted some press attention today, but his site, unlike Van Veen's Notional, is nowhere to be found. The question is what will be the future of "Celebrity Reality" at IAC should Silverman birth another superfluous Ask.com?
Diller needs Silverman to succeed and exploit Van Veen's demographic to to the max. Otherwise, I Wanna Be On® will be looking to acquire some office space in that Gehry building in early 2010.
Silverman's produced IAC "celebrity reality" (e.g., The Huffington Post, Advertising Age, New York Post) is rich in lessons on how not to manipulate the media until reputation, perceived and projected, comports with the promise of product and its delivery.
Alternatively, should Silverman succeed at launching a new media distribution platform, the "notion" of packaging Internet platforms with content and advertising partners will be revolutionized! Professor Presti opines that if Silverman can recapture his William Morris halcyon days, IAC could become bigger than Facebook and Twitter combined!
